There are so many. *internal panic*.
Sound familiar?
Don't worry we have you covered. We know a great dentist.
We thought it would be kind of fun at Dose of Dental to interview our docs...we think they are great and want you to know why!
So, without further ado, let me introduce you to Dr. Moody.
He would love to be your Northwest Portland neighborhood dentist...so let's get to know him.
Where did you grow up? Did you live anywhere else?
I grew up in the Jacksonville, Florida area with my mom, dad, twin sister, and two adorable miniature poodles. After highschool I attended college in Colorado Springs, Colorado at UCCS and my twin sister attended the United States Air Force Academy ... which was only a couple of miles away. We were close then and still are very close to this day. Following my stint in Colorado, I attended dental school in Richmond, Virginia. After graduation I matched at a hospital residency at the VA in Portland Oregon...that is how I got out here. And, man it is a beautiful place to live.
Wow, from all of those places why Portland?
It is funny you ask that. For some reason, I have always wanted to live in Portland. I was drawn here and have not been disappointed. It is a beautiful place to live, explore, and practice dentistry. I love living and working in the same area. It brings me joy to see friends and patients out and about at local restaurants, bars, and shops. I have even had people walk up to me and be like "oh you're the dentist near me" referring to our office being near their home. I just love it.
What aspect of dentistry do you care about the most?
Honestly, I find the customer service aspect to be super important. I want people to have the best experience they can have. I know at my office we all do phenomenal dentistry and I think one of the ways we can portray that to patients is not only through amazing dental care, but also through amazing customer service. I think that is what sets us apart.
What are some of your favorite things to do when not at the office?
I am an avid coffee drinker and love spending time in local coffee shops. My dog, Cooper (the best boy out there), and I love to go on walks in Washington Park and Forest Park, paddle board on the Willamette, and sit on patios with a lovely IPA. I am constantly exploring vintage furniture shops and finding fun objects to feed my interior design side hobby. And...yeah... besides that I enjoy gardening, hiking, listening to music, reading, and spending time with friends and family.
When someone searches "best dentist near me", what should they look for?
Convenience. Office vibe. Personality of the staff. One of the most important things to me is...see if your personality meshes well with the dentist AND hygienist. Patients typically see their hygienist more than they see me. So, It is important to find someone you trust ... both a hygienist and a dentist. If you are unsure, ask to have an office tour. I would be DELIGHTED if patients asked to see the office and meet the staff prior to their appointment. Most dentists do great work, therefore start with someone that is conveniently located and someone you get along with. The office culture is a good indicator of how the practice is run.
